Psalm 37.4 (NIV)
Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
In prayer, we align ourselves with God’s will, his priorities, his thoughts.*
This verse may sound like a magic formula for getting what you want, but God is not a genie in a lamp who grants our every selfish wish. If you truly delight yourself in the Lord, then the desires of your heart will be ones that are pure and holy – and they will delight God. We will not be wishing for things we shouldn’t have. It is as if God is saying, “I have wonderful things in store for your life but first you must seek my heart.”*

Here is a way to test how much you delight in the Lord. Answer these two questions: 1)What do I want most in the world? 2)What do I enjoy most? If you are honest with yourself, your answers will reveal if you delight in the Lord.
If you have earnestly sought to please him and have asked for wisdom, you can rest secure in the knowledge that he will work all things in the direction he knows will ultimately be best for you.*
